Ruth Roman (n e Gold) was born at Lynn located in Massachusetts. The parents of her were Lithuanian Jewish Mary Pauline and Abraham Roman. As a young girl her carnival barker father passed away and left her mother no option but to work as a cleaning woman and waitress to support her family. Ruth was raised in a poor area of Boston Massachusetts where she enrolled in school. In the midst of only two years in school the young woman left to pursue an acting career. The path she chose was filled with problems. After landing a gig at New York as a model for a detective magazine, she had a difficult time trying to secure work on stage. After that, she was the hat checker in the nightclub before calling the shots and moving back to Boston. She was in Boston in which she was employed during the late night, she was an actor for New England Repertory Company and the rest of the time she was an usherette. She graduated from Bishop-Lee Theatre School, where she studied drama.
